Ciao! Buonasera lovely readers! Just got back from Florence a week ago. So here's a little update on my trip: stayed in Il Magnifico B&B hotel during my visit to Florence, Italy. I just loved my quaint room! The room is so cozy with old-fashioned furniture, washed out parkay flooring and huge old window shutters. Everything in the room and the place where I stayed just exudes viva italia except for the LCD telly. I really enjoyed my trip to Italy and wish I could stay there longer. Perhaps I shall visit during summer? Anyway, I will definitely blog about my Italia adventure soon. Take care and Happy CNY! XxoO

Shot some random pedestrians and my friends on the streets of Oxford in London. First impression about the big city was just busy. Busy. Nothing but just mad busy. People on the streets doesn't seem to stop but just constantly moving. Like the hardworking tiny ants, just that they are the giants version which are clad in fancy clothes. Interesting, I must say - the busy fast pace of the city. There is something beguiling about people walking at different 'fast' paces in London for which I stood by a corner and just watched them while my other friends dispersed. People watching in London is definitely far more interesting than in KL city as in the wide diversified style ranging from couture, vintage, punk, high street to classic. You get to see a blue hair lady clad in formal wear with creepers whereas an old man all geared up in biker jacket with studded leather pants. That's what I called true stylistas! Speaking of style and age, people here absolutely don't give a ~~fuck~~ about dressing appropriate to one's age. From what I have seen so far, they certainly dress based on their personality. It's all about self expression at the end of the day. Period.

Have I told you lately that I am very happy? Extremely happy. Too happy in fact that I do not even bother the ugly acne scars on my face. Too happy that I can't tell whether this 'happiness' I'm having is real or just a dream. Too happy that I scanned through every single word in my thesaurus just to look for the right word to describe this 'happiness'. Although I might know it, I shall just keep this 'happiness' a mystery. At least for once, I do not need to do thorough research on everything and stop worrying like a mad woman. I wouldn't be surprised if I start seeing lesser lines on my palms in the next few days. Anyway, Happy New Year lovelies!!

PS: I'm going to Italy next week and I can't wait! Oh, and I guess you can tell my 'happiness' just by looking at the picture above :)

And So This Is... Funky Christmas!

FINALLY. Melly is back on her creative toes! Illustrated the picture above due to my excitement for Christmas which is happening in less than an hour time! Can you smell the wonderful christmas air?! I do! I do! It smells like fresh baked cinnamon rolls, yummm. Haven't been keeping in touch with my adobe sisters ever since i got to the UK and that is like four months. WOW. Four months!? It's crazy to see how crazily time flies. I'm spending my Christmas with my friends this year and it's gonna be one special Christmas cos I'm celebrating it in London! Woo Hoo!!

Anyway, i was on Facebook just now (weird how i log onto it every day now, hmmm) and apparently 'What I Want For Christmas' topic was trending on my news feed. I have came to discover that almost all my friends wished for branded goods or electronic gadgets like the Fendi bag, iPhone 4s and etc. I'm guessing Santa Claus must be some loaded broker. If he ever exists or if i ever do believe in his existence, i just want him to know that my christmas wish is to celebrate the jingly festive season with my family. If only he can teleport me in his Santa's wagon back home... Oh well, i guess i have to just accept the fact that i am going through this 'adulthood' phase. In fact, five more months till i come home for good! YAY! I am counting down the days just so you know :)

Previously, I have blogged about my lethargy case and did mention that I have found a drink that I called it -my miracle drink. That miraculous drink so happen to be none other than Innershine OPC. Late April 2011

My skin got betterafter I finished my internship. Got all the very much needed rest and my foodclock was back to normal. Although my pimples have reduced, the stubborn acnescars still refuse to leave my skin. And I was so tired of complaining howugly I look like with acnes and pimples which I have decided to be friends withem. Hence, we became pimpals. Get the pun ;) Hehe

Composing this post with cold shivers. It's my third week here in the UK and the temperature here fluctuates like period. The period statement has somehow become an understatement by the rate of me complaining every single day since the first day I arrived. It's autumn and it is supposed to be cold and chilly. Body is trying hard to adjust to the 'arctic weather' and it's not even winter yet I feel like I'm in Alaska already. Can't imagine how am I gonna survive during winter, even the thought of it daunts me every day and night. Somehow I have managed to survive the cold with my good ol' friend Nutella and Digestivites. Oh, and not forgetting my lovely bathtub! The hot bath is so good that I always spend about an hour in the bathroom just relaxing. Ahh.. always wanted a bathtub back home so bad that now I finally do. The bathtub is now officially my new inspiration space.

Must Beat Lethargic Cells

Being a journalist and a columnist has drained me of my sleep and adequate rest and this has definitely taken a toll on my skin and beauty. Yes, zits, eye bags, wrinkles even, and these particular words certainly do annoy people and myself by going at the rate of constant repeats and having that in your daily conversation will just make you sound like a broken record player. Imagine your friend or neighbour or even your dog comes up and tell you how dead beat you look like everyday or worse, every hour. Don't you just feel like zipping their mouths up or for some who simply can't stand it will probably hit their mouths with a frying pan *OUCH* !? I know I would.

And since I am so annoyed by the fact that I always complain about how sluggish I look every time, a remedy to solve this matter is inevitably crucial. So... I did some homework on google and have tried some tips online to revive back to the old clear-skin-bubbly me, which, sadly fails. I have tried to sleep early but unfortunately with the extensive research, it didn't do much help but totally burnt me out all the more, which left me with a worse complexion and also deterioration of my alertness.

As I compose this post with a heavy heart that no elephants weight can ever be compared to my blood-pumping organ, I could hear the gentle beeping tone of my digital watch telling me that my precious time here (home, i mean) is incredibly running out at a heartbeat pace. As seconds/minutes/hours/days go by, its beeping tone gradually increases that alarms me on my longitude of distance towards solitude independence. In other words, I will be leaving the country to the foreign land (Queen Elizabeth's crib) that will be happening in about three weeks time from now. Two months sure has passed really fast, honestly it didn't even feel like it - still feels like I've first started my new full-time job as SEVENTEEN's fashion writer/stylist or just graduated from my diploma programme. Amazing how time flies and it's even amazing for a time-phobic person like me to be tingled by it. I guess my time phobia is slowly fading away from me - this evidently explains the-no-lagging-time for appointments/events/work of which I've gone through recently. YAY me! Good news indeed. Will definitely keep this good habit of mine and hopefully I get a HIGH DISTINCTION for time management. Can't believe that tomorrow will be my last fashion spread for the magazine. My body-machine has overworked today with the excessive myriad of looks that my almost fried brain has came out with and running for loans from the city to the suburbs; I want to nail tomorrow's spread badly! Hope everything goes well tomorrow *keeps fingers crossed* :)

An ineluctable constellation of perplexity. Self oscillating in a 360 degree circular hypersonic motion in the clouds of bamboozle stars; blissful feather light feeling, slightly nauseous and tad dizzy. Blurry and obscure routes, even the mighty guide aka gravity loses its sense of direction. Clueless and stranded. Verdict has it better to just depart even though it might not be the best solution at least it is better than wandering like a poor lost duckling. Had a choppy month which I'm totally nonchalant about it. Rare but COOL. I think it must be Portishead playlist that got me through the fuzzy month. I listen to Portishead almost every night before I head to disco moon - very comforting indeed.

Anyway, a little update on me. I am OFFICIALLY a working adult. Did I just type and say adult? OR did you just hear/read that correctly? Yuuuuuuhhh, your ears aren't rusty and YES you certainly heard that right! Cos...*drum rolls*... yours truly have officially graduated two months ago and is working for SEVENTEEN Magazine as a Fashion-Writer-At-Large.Yeeeeoooooowwzaaaahhhhhhhh *happy do-the-chicken-dance*
I will blog about my work soon meanwhile listen to my new blob playlist while imagine yourself floating in space and stargazing.

Got my girls out last weekend for a fun shoot. Cloudy weather with subtle lighting was indeed perfect for the shoot. And before I forget, I'd like to proudly and officially introduce to you Fuzzy Logic comprising - Catherhea, Chengi, Jojo (she won't be joining us at the mo cos she's in the other side of the world) and me. You might have heard of it if you have been following my blob, this time Fuzzy Logic is definitely happening despite the utterly long hiatus due to everyone's busy schedule. Without any further ado, the resurrection of Fuzzy Logic begins!

If you are wondering what's this shoot about, it is for Parkson X Tongue in Chic's 'So You Think You Can Style' event which we'll be participating on 23rd July 2011.

So it is a styling challenge comprising of ten teams of three whereby two will be playing stylists while the other models in each team. Participants get to play dress up with apparel brands like: United Colors of Benetton, Desigual, Miss Sixty, Elle and more as well as accessories from Accessorize as the tools in this styling playground. Three winners will be walking home with grand prizes worth RM 2, 000 to pimp up their personal wardrobe. Certainly sounds like fun eh. Anomalistic Pilgrimage

I see my road like a battlefield. Excessively indecisive; decisions like turbulence. Slow death I feel coming. Sometimes floating in the clouds of indecisiveness can be restorative for me as I enjoy being in the floaty state: that feather-light feeling as you gently float down the liffey. In order for this condition to take place, you will need... TIME. Everybody tells me that time is crucial especially when in need for decisions. Seize the time and use it shrewdly; that it may bestow you upon more time frames for the next decision(s) in line. Time is short and blah, blah, blah. For which I distress cos I always believed that time will never run out in my dreams. I am a dreamer, an odd dreamer in fact that dreams with the eyes open. Which explains the short attention span I guess. However, this allegiant creed has recently showed its flaw that gave me quite a smack. The impact was so great that it stormily pulls me into this silent space as I watch my surroundings go by nonchalantly; that entice the stench of fear.

Now, we are complete strangers. Being me; afraid to make decisions, for which that has changed. As today I shall mark down this prominent date (06.06.11) as I have partially made through the battlefield of an unbelievable awesome thirty percent. This is good as I teleport farrrrrr away from procrastination and finish up my massive leftovers for this month. It is gonna be one helluva bumpy month indeed. Remain positive but this time: just do it! And I shall live with this new belief:

Heart Of Glass Anxiety

So... i am having this pre-party planning anxiety. It is so bad that it's driving me up the wall. Total madness. This is one last minute party indeed. Randomly invited about hundred over people on facebook of which are: my close friends, not-so-close friends, hi-bye friends, colleagues, ex-bosses, new bosses, photographers, models, bloggers, and... some celebrity (as if bieber or rain would come all the way to my party). Just checked the guest list; just as what i've expected: mediocre not-too-bad attendance. Knew that about fifteen percent would confirmed the attendance, ten percent with not-sure-yet while on the other hand, seventy-five percent dominantly conquered the guest list with: awaiting reply. I shall patiently wait till the big day comes for which is happening about less than thirty six hours from now. For some reasons, i am not looking forward for the amount of birthday wishes on FB this year but rather seeing all my close and kinda-close friends at my party as i won't be able to throw my 21 party next year as i will be in the UK. Boo Hoo. So for those who are coming this saturday, they gonna get a good treat from me as i iz gonna spin. Me gonna be a deee jaayyy. A real NOOB for your information. But, music is subjective so yuhh, i don't think i be that bad. *keeps fingers crossed* hahaha
ps: hope i get to see many people at my party despite the unflattering fb attendance response. think im gonna do the invitation this time the old school way via calling =)

Bonne Anniversaire

My best friend ninja jo of seven years (still counting) has officially landed in the twenty territory about five hours and thirty minutes ago. She is a big girl now! I mean... a lady. In fact a gorgeous smart à la mode with a fickle as a pickle twist that compliments very well with her lovely personality. As her number one super best friend in the whole wide universe, i have prepared a lineup of surprises for her big day that is today. Surprise #1 which is still 60 percent in completion, 40 percent comes from the birthday girl; which i have posted a very special birthday wish on her facebook and this wish is not your typical ordinary birthday wish where you get those mundane predictable cut copy paste wishes with a smiley emoticon that replaces the full stop at the end of the sentences, mine is truly one of a kind especially when it's coming from me. So my birthday wish on her FB was special cos it had props, cool texts, real life emoticon and.... *coughs* celebrities!! Yeah... you can see it now in fact. Just that the one right in front of you is slightly different than the FB photo. The only difference was i had a masquerade mask and here, i don't. Got my favourite singer bieber to pose with me for her special surprise along with dj deadmau5. Even though it's on the print, just imagine that they are real for a minute!! Close your eyes and say IMAGINATION =) Surprise #2 and #3 will be happening in a bit. I am so so excited, hope she likes my surprise #1 though =)

Here's what I have illustrated for one of my visual comm assignments comprising three elements i.e.: modern, retro and urban. Took me about 4 -5 hours for the illustrations. Currently, i am into bright neon colours at the moment. Speaking of which, gonna get colourful neon glow sticks for deadmau5 gig later *excite excite*. So far this week has been quite a good week for me. Few hours ago, I was at HURTS gig with my bestie aka jojo bear and it was amazing!!! It's been awhile since i have hung out with her and I miss her so much. This whole month is definitely gonna be our month and that's guaranteed for sure! Deadmau5 later with jojo bear. STYLO: F&F Spring Summer 2011

Last week, I attended F&F fashion show by STYLO which was held at Chin Woo Stadium, Kuala Lumpur. It was definitely one hectic week for me as I had to attend four fashion shows that week and still go to school the next day. And, apologies for the lack of updates. School just started and I couldn't find time to blog as I am drowned with assignments. Nevertheless, I am still gonna blog about STYLO fashion week for you lovelies =)

If you haven't heard of F&F, the international clothing brand hailing from the UK was launched recently in Malaysia. F&F which stands for Florence and Fred carries casual and formal collection for both men and women. I seldom wear maxi dresses or i don't wear em at all for reasons that i look like i'm being swallowed by the dress cos of my height. Yes. I iz short with short legs. Last week, as i was cleaning my closet, packing my old clothes (mummy wants me to donate em to charity), i came across my old maxi white dress. Had an uneasy feeling on letting go my dress which i have never worn it before. My mum finds it pointless for keeping stuff where you do not use it which she'd rather donate it to someone who would fully utilize it. Anyway, back to the great white maxi treasure i've discovered, i decided to experiment it with my red chunky beaded necklace from DIVA and my tribal bangles from Forever 21. The white maxi is from British India which my mum got me four years back and it slept soundly in my closet ever since. Now my maxi is no longer a loner anymore as i wore it last week for shopping. Will definitely wear this when i hit the beach =)

Seriously. Am i that unlikable to social networking sites and messenger and even to SKYPE!? It is definitely not the gorgeous homo sapiens i'm talking about who dislike me on facebook, twitter, skype and etc ( everybody loves me [= ) but surprisingly, the site program instead! For instance, i can't seem to get my file through my friend on skype which i've send it via msn later but miserably fail again. Created a fan page on fb and the page can't seem to load properly for me. Waited for like an hour plus. Okay. Maybe not an hour. Exaggerated a little bit. I am very melodramatic by the way. Anyway, i have waited for like thirty minutes for the page to load. Urgh. I shouldn't be complaining about this cos i think this is pretty silly. So who cares if the site programs loathe me? As if i can make good friends with them. Okay. I think i better head back to my internship report. Time to kick some marketing word arses! Hai-Yak!

ZOUKOUT was amazing. Was in the lion city aka Singapore with my two best girl friends for the event last year. Pretty neon lights. Half-naked gorgeous people. Free booze. Orgasmic music and for once, no mainstream music! If only i have brought my dslr with me, it will definitely complete my whole zoukout experience. Left my heavy duty snapping machine at home cos it was too bulky for me. Can't believe it is all over now. Three months has passed. Zoukout has definitely spoiled Joanne and I in choices of clubs and music. We are so picky when it comes to clubbing now. We hate clubs that spin mainstream music! Speaking of which, i haven't been clubbing lately. Gosh. Tied down with work for LOREAL BRANDSTORM competition. Will blog about it soon. Now, back to zoukout. I still can't believe my girls and i stood like ten long hours for the event and can still remember that we planned to leave the place early so that we won't get harassed by some drunk douches. We were drop dead exhausted and couldn't even take a cab cos the line was crazy. So we decided to take the mrt back. Glad that we managed to get home safely. Can't wait for the next ZOUKOUT!!

Nouveau Départ, Bonjour 2011!

New beginning. New start. Nouveau Départ indeed. So far my first week of twenty eleven was pretty good even though my first day of the new year turned out sucky. Don't wanna say it or even think about it. When i say bad luck, i literally mean SUPER BAD LUCK. Being a superstitious girl i am and having the first day of my new year to start off badly, just hit me with this perception that my twenty eleven is going to be a horrible boo hoo year for me. But according to my friends, chinese says that if you experience bad luck on the first day of the new year, all your bad luck for the entire year of 2011 are good gone. That definitely made me happy and i guess that i wont be experiencing any bad luck for this year *keep fingers crossed* =)

Making a resolution list have become like a yearly tradition for me. Usually, my resolution list for every year just get longer and longer as years go by. However, this year apparently the list is surprisingly very short. Like there is only 3 things in my list which i usually will have about like ten or twenty things that need to change or achieve for melly's new year. Hmm...weird. So the three things are;

punctuality (more like punch you reality. not a fan of the whole reality thing but yea.. need to slowly absorb into it so i do not need to get a reality check)
positivity (this i have to admit is always with me ever since i was born until now but i still do need to charge my happy battery inside me every now and then cos sometimes when i do something, my battery reader frequently shows me the minus bar which i don't remember having that last time only last year ever since the chicken pox attack. Fish you chicky pox.)
confidence (must have the confidence in everything i do, be it - decision, choices or every move i make. Yuh... i definitely have the confidence in you melly that you gonna be early at all occasions. Now that's what exactly i'm talking about - good start!)

So yea.. that's practically the most important stuff for my list this year. Anyway, Happy New Year to all homo sapiens in the world! Cheers! x

ps: i just thought of another resolution and to add that in will be #4 - work out even harder at the gym!

Seriously. Do not know what i've gotten myself into. Think i might be suffering from a slight mental disorder. And, by that i don't mean crazy psycho kind like laugh and talk to myself every time. However, I admit I do sometimes but still, am definitely not crazy. I repeat myself; slight mental disorder. For me, crazy psycho means not wearing clothes in public or ..... getting mixed up with clothes. I mean. Common, everybody knows how to wear clothes, even my one year old niece does, if they don't, there you go - you've found yourself being/with a nutcase! Just like hobos at most times are confused with their dressing i.e. mistaken their bottoms as their tops or their tops as their bottoms. But I must say, the top being worn as bottom is a cool trend! Anyway. I wonder whether is it normal for homo sapiens aka human beings to develop a tendency of exerting ~~tremendous~~ pressure in themselves that eventually turns into a frequent habit. Google didn't really answer that question. I NEED to know the answer *desperate* and think i have to seek a psychiatrist for that. So yea.. that's the 'slight mental disorder' I'm having. Smacks me head for causing me great distress. Great. What a nice way to kick off Melly's 2011 and not to mention, it's not even 2011 yet for crying out loud with the crap that I've gotten into. Sigh. Actually it's kinda not so crappy cos it's like a good crap. By that, i'm referring to a competition and my other new freelance job. YES. An international marketing competition and an illustrator for men's magazine so to speak. What I need now is to have extreme confidence and enthusiasm like how I used to have back then when i wasn't emo melly. I need to be happy melly like before. HAPPY BUBBLY MELLY like x 1000000000000 times.

Illustrated this Christmas wallpaper for the company that I'm interning. I love the fat snowman that I drew which is just the way that I want him to look like - fat, healthy and happy. Can't believe 3 months has passed and left one more month to go till I leave the company. The stress from the company is just crazy and unbearable at some point but the experience working for my boss company is just amazing and priceless. Not to mention, my boss is one hell of a ~~slave driver~~ but a very NICE slave driver I must say. By the way, I'm interning at a creative advertising boutique which is really different from what I used to do. My work has got nothing to do with fashion and yea.. the boring corporate stuff. But some events I admit are quite fun, especially the musicals and rehearsals!! Anyway, Christmas is happening in 96 hours from now. Glad that I did my christmas shopping last weekend and can't wait for the BIG family dinner this Friday! Till then, Merry Christmas loves x =)

Just got back from Singapore and can't wait to blog about my super awesome trip to the lion city with my girls and my family. Gosh, Tiesto song Escape Me is still stuck in my head ever since Zoukout last weekend and have been listening to it like a million times already!! Escape me..escape me... This song is definitely in for my playlist and not to mention, the perfect song for melly's stress breaker! Speaking of which, I usually de-stress myself by engaging into something creative and by that it's either an impromptu fashion shoot with my friends or the usual - drawing! Yes, drawing makes me relax and it is also a creative lazy way I'll say to break the stress because unlike photo shoots, which requires you to dress up and pose for the camera, I can comfortably lie in my bed drawing with my 'partner in crime' that is none other than my trusty sketchbook and my 0.4 artline pen. Anyway, I've also found a new way to escape the awful stress and that is by just chilling with your best pal with a good old paperback and jacuzzi!! =)

Attended the FORD SUPERMODELS press conference this morning. Thank you STYLO for the media invitation =) The conference was held at STYLO Academy in Bangsar. It was an early event that kicked off at 10 30 AM and I was... late. One hour late to be exact.The moment I arrived, the conference almost ended but I did manage to listen to the ten minutes of Q&A with the floor and the main key people i.e. Datuk Nancy Yeoh, Organising Chairman of the Ford Models Supermodels of the World Malaysia 2011 and Datuk Razlan Razali, Chief Executive Officer of the Sepang International Circuit.

Without any further ado, read on press release below regarding press conference.

The prestigious Ford Models Supermodels of the World will be collaborating with the KL Formula 1 in its search for the ultimate Malaysian supermodel to represent the country at the August finals in New York City; held in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of this world-famous supermodel search.

Each year, the search attracts hundreds of thousands of applicants covering over 70 countries as it offers its winners a highly-lucrative contract with Ford Models besides a shot at world fame.
The Malaysian edition search will be held early next year and finals during the KL Formula 1 season in April. It will involve several major cities in the country.

So yes, our very own Malaysian version of America's Next Top Model and the search starts in January which will be one of the main highlights to the run-ups of KL F1 Grand Prix that is happening in April 2011. The search is open to all Malaysian women, aged 18 and above with a minimum height of 175cm. Participants younger than 18 (minimum 14 years) needs to get daddy and mummy approval. So if you think you have got what it takes to be a supermodel, then what are you waiting for!? Sign yourself up potential supermodel!! Who knows you might be the next cover girl for top luxurious brands like Gucci, Burberry, Chanel and etc. You might even see yourself in top international magazines and on the telly! It's been so looong since I last played dress up for TiC and I absolutely miss the good fun of it. Got the fashion task pretty last minute from my editor, Sue Ann. Even though I only had two very short days to plan on my outfit and deliver the draft for the assignment, I successfully managed to nail em with the help of my truly awesome talented friend, Catherhea. I remember I drove to her place past midnight right after work and we started the shoot by then till 3 in the morning. It was definitely tiring but with all the fun from the shoot, it eventually killed away the tiredness and in fact, it also added happy energy to the shoot. You know what I mean, by just looking at the photos above evidently shows that I don't look dead exhausted and for that, many thanks to my friend,Cat for making the shoot so much fun.

Anyhoo, today is my first day of work and I can already feel the stress in my head, there is two projects that I've to crack my head hard and deadline is within twelve hours from now. Krazy! But I gotta admit it's a pretty fun project to work with especially when you have your course mates working together with you on it. People at my workplace are really nice and friendly, heard from my friend that the lady bosses have a fat cat and a cute puppy. And they'll bring their pets to the office every Friday which means I get to see Puss in boots and the doggy tomorrow. Wee! But am terrified of dogs and cats tho cos of their fur which sadly I'm allergic to. Am gonna wear long sleeves and long pants tomorrow so their fur ain't touching my skin. Till then, toodles!

Damien Hirst Butterflies Touched My Soul

Am loving Damien Hirst's butterfly prints. Indeed, it has touched Melly's heart and soul. Yay! Somehow I feel like doing some colourful illustrations on pigs now, maybe I could try doing some piggy prints like how Hirst's did for the butterflies. When I first saw the butterfly pics on Dazed Digital site, I immediately saved all of them and was so in love with the gorgeous butterfly prints that I even made a GIF picture of it.

Speaking of which, doesn't Damien Hirst's butterfly prints remind you of Warhol? Ah... I would so like to go to Hirst's butterfly exhibition now but am very far away from the UK. BOO! His exhibition, The Souls is at the Paul Stopher Gallery in London which is happening from Oct 7 - Nov 13.

It's been awhile since I last posted about my outfit. So here it is. Wearing a thrifted sheer top with my black short tights from Sg Wang (love the lace on my tights) paired with my black lined pattern stockings. Matching my outfit with my black shoes from BKK and my black vintage bag which I got it from some shop in Malacca for only RM 20. It was definitely a good steal! I kept my accessories simple, wearing my owl necklace that I bought from a flea market with my pink casio watch and my favourite black bead bracelet from BKK!

Anyway, I've finally got my frizzy MADONNA do all straighten up. Still kinda sad that my frizzy do is gone tho =(

Went to watch Calvin Harris at ZOUK KL with my awesome girl friends earlier this month. No guys. Just us girls. When my bestie and I heard about him coming to KL back then, we went all crazy and started our long fan girl-ing session on the phone. We wanted to see Mr. Harris so bad that we even thought of getting our ~~fake~~ IDs done at central market so that we can enter the club. Anyway, we managed to pass through ZOUK's security =D. That night was just pure electro-coolness! The man behind "I Created Disco" gotten in on the action by spinning off some really cool funky beats for a whole-worth-to-stand 2 hours! It was a very lucky night for us. I mean. First, managed to pass through the tight security. Then, got to listen and watch him spinning the decks very close to us. Survived in our killer heels for three freaking hours! Managed to hold our pee until the end of the show. We even managed to get a picture with the man himself! How more lucky can we get?! Also, I bumped into Wei Wei and Elle that night. Loved what they wore! All in all, Calvin Harris rocked out ZOUK perfectly! Okay. Maybe not so perfect cos he didn't wear his blinged sequined shades like on his album cover but I did =p

Oh Yes, I've Gone All Red!

Three months back, I've changed my oh-so-pretty straight hair to Madonna's frizzy hairdo and not blonde but red. Oh yes, red and frizzy! I heart the bright, intense and brilliant red color loads. Even my bestie loves my new do so much that she drew me hairstyle =)

My Madonna hairdo matches everything I put on whether it's a simple vintage dress, over-size tee with leggings, and basically, anything. The goodness of having this do is that I draw more attention (~~me likey!~~), matches my clothes & shoes, gives me the feeling that I'm living in the 80s and I feel like a young Madonna redhead version somehow.

Anyhoo, goodness aside, the now hairdo of mine doesn't look the same how it used to three months ago. My roots are showing and my hair is getting so annoying that I'd gotta tie it up everyday. I can't wait to straighten my hair back and probably go jet black but not anytime soon tho. There's about two more weeks till Madonna leaves me and am definitely gonna miss her so much. In the mean time, I should start looking for new hairstyles then.

Walking On A Dream

Vacation with my friends two months back was absolutely fun. We went to the beautiful Redang Island in Kuala Terengganu. The vacation was indeed a last minute plan that we planned it in an amazing incredible 48 hours before the trip. How cool is that for planning a last minute holiday vacation!? We've booked our flight and the hotel all via online. I just love how convenient online bookings are. Before I head on to my trip, I'd like to apologize for being hiatus for like sixty days. I've been so busy with my new semester, assignments (pain in my butt!), work and events. Oh, and last month I was down with chicken pox too. I'd sum my last two months as stressful, moody, busy and just plain horrible. Okay, maybe not that horrible cos I've been clubbing a lot (after I recovered from the chicpox), met Kpop artistes (BEAST and Wonder Girls), did lots of drawing and illustrations and ... gym! Oh yes, gym! I've been working out a lot at the gym recently so I can have my ideal bod like Jesica Biel and am still working on it.

Anyway, back to my vacation. Our flight to Trenganu was very early in the morning and me being not a morning person shockingly managed to get up early for the trip. Frankly speaking, I didn't sleep at all the night before the trip cos I was too excited and same goes to my friends. In fact, we all slept in the plane. Getting from Trenganu airport to Redang Island was troublesome! We had to travel to the jetty via cab that took us about 45 minutes to reach. And then we took a boat from the jetty to the island that took us another 45 minutes.

At the island, we did nothing much besides snorkeling, sunbathing, eating, drinking and just bumming a lot. Relaxed on the beach, relaxed on the hammock, relaxed in our rooms.. just relaxed. Haha. I love relaxing and being lazy and the fact that your mind is having a nice good rest of 3 days for not worrying to do a reality check. Being at the island, time definitely feels like its passing by slowly. And I seriously could not get enough of the clear water and the white sand. I love relaxing on the beach not under the hot sun tho but under the shady trees. Yes, I'm afraid of the sun which is why I sprayed a lot like A LOT of sun block on my body. I even brought along my good buddies for my trip i.e. Patrick Starfish and GiGi the Giraffe and even brought my Melly happy bag pack (my sketch book, stickers, color pencils, markers and etc)! Oh, and not forgetting my favourite comic - Archie!! So yea, I drew on the beach while listening to Big Bang, Rain, Brown Eyed Girls, Kings and Convenience, Kasabian, The Crash, Miami Horror, Delphic and etc.

All in all, it was one good vacation despite of how much we overspent for our trip and would definitely love to go back there again. Perhaps, next year mid June or July before the monsoon. Goodbye gorgeous Redang Island, I'll be back someday! =)

Like the pictures above which I've stolen them from her facebook profile clearly explains that she's a cool sista! This lady goes by the name of Joyce Ngu or better known as CLOWVE. When I first saw it, my heart melted with many colorful butterflies of love fluttering around me. Her DIYs include fake Chanel shirt, pouch and etc. When it comes to music, she loves letting down her hair to Arctic Monkeys, Florence + the Machines & Gossip! Designer labels she hearts to bits are Chloe, Miu Miu and Moschino. I found another SKINS fan too, she loves watching SKINS just like me =)

Currently, I'm into this danish band called the Asteroids Galaxy Tour. The band name is definitely funky! I fell in love with them when I blog hopped onto some indie music blog that played their music . Anyway, the band is consists of gorgeous vocalist Mette Lindberg and producer Lars Iversen. Their genre is a mix of psychedelic pop and acid jazz. Mette sure has some unique fashion sense. Oh, do check out their music videos! Their videos remind me of the 80s! I love the 80s =)

Oh yes! My beautiful bestie Jojo the giraffe turned nineteen last month. She was tired of having Chinese, Western, Indian, Japanese, Korean and Malay food, so she decided to have Iranian food instead. I was so happy to see Dede and Tze after so long. Super love Dede's hot pink lipstick color on her lips, I think she was wearing Chanel lipstick - not so sure. Her dressing also reminded me of Chloe i.e. simple & androgynous. Jojo on the other hand dressed according to the occasion, she wore a scarf making it like a turban =.= Wen came along too. It was definitely nice to hang out with all of them, felt like a happy nutcase family again. The Iranian food at Tarbush Starhill was delicious, I loved the pita bread with the garlic sauce and the lamb kebab. Gosh, did I mention that I had mutton rush? So there's sugar rush and there's mutton rush. According to my dictionary, mutton rush means feeling too high after having too much mutton. So, I was kinda dizzy due to my mutton rush. Anyway, Dede gave an instrument i.e. a mini kompang lookalike to Jojo for her birthday gift. I will get you something Jojo, so I hope that you'll patiently wait for it =D

By the way, wasn't happy with the photos I've took cos the pics are just so-so due to the restaurant's warm lighting. Dayum, I just hate yellow lighting! Owh well, at least the pic are okay to look at. xxx

So what's LEFTBLOCK ? LEFTBLOCK is a company comprising of three brilliant fashionistas i.e. my ex-boss Joyce, aunt Jacinta Travinia and Chelle of PMS. Not so sure what their company does but I know they do styling and basically fashion related stuff. Heard that there's another huge project that they're working on it that is happening in July. So, keep your eyes peeled for it ;)

Anyway, I attended LEFTBLOCK X Nike fashion show on last April. Only managed to stay for the first part of the show cos gotta head to another event. Its sad that I've got to miss the Nike event. I've always liked Nike fashion show because their concept for the show is always very unique, fresh and colorful. Like LEFTBLOCK X Nike event was indeed a very vibrant and amazing fashion show! Unlike the normal fashion shows we've always seen i.e. models strutting down the catwalk while stylists are always behind the curtain, Nike fashion show this time was slightly different with the stylists themselves styled the models right in front of the audiences. The 3 fashionistas styled the models according to their own style with Nike apparels. Most of the Nike apparels i.e. shirts, pants and shoes has been modified by the LEFTBLOCK stylistas. They added lots off pretty, colorful and nice stuff like buttons, fringes, ribbons and etc on the shirts, skirts and pants.

Really wish that I could have stayed longer so that I can hang out with my aunt and my former boss and watch the whole show on that day. Sigh =( Anyway, I shall wait for July cos LEFTBLOCK is having another project! Sounds like awesomeness =D

I'm so busy, so so so........... busy with my finals and work. Can't wait to sit for two more papers (i.e. Sociology & Sales Promotion) and hopefully the smell of freedom shall start by end of this week. This morning, I accompanied my mother to the market. While my mum was busy choosing vegetables to buy, I just stood by at the corner of the vegetable stall. Yawning at the corner, trying to stand still so I won't fall asleep. Then, I got wide awake after I saw a huge bag of egg plants which suddenly is placed right in front me by one of the workers. The colour of the eggplant just caught my sleepy eyes and at that moment, all I wanted to draw was eggplant! Lots of them with different colours!

While I was discussing with Wei Keong about our assignment, Jojo decided to draw my shoes and her gladiators to kill off her boredom. I think the best way to kill boredom is by letting your creative hands to venture your piece of blank paper with its friends that is the pen and the colour pencils.

I snapped these lovely pictures of my grandpa a few months back when my hair was still long. My grandpa loves to dress up back then and even now too! Like grandpa, like granddaughter. But his style is casual most of the time - white singlet and his khaki 3/4 pants.
He prefers simplicity because he believes that less is more. I'm so lucky to have him as my grandpa. He supports me in everything I do and always motivates me to be confident in work and studies. Every time when I try on new clothes and shoes, he always says that I look pretty in them. Hearing his sweet comments on my outfit just made my day even happier! Like super duper happy in a gazillion times. I love him so much, my only Kung Kung =)

I've always been a fan of New Young Pony Club ever since two years ago when I heard them on imeem which one of my friends recommended me to listen. Their music is not only catchy with their super cute british accent, but the funky beat that will just instantly make you wanna groove with the rhythm. Trust me, if you're dead bored, play their songs, it'll just energize you up within seconds. Best, if you play it in shower! Don't ask why =.=

Anyway, a little info about them, New Young Pony Club or NYPC for short consisting of five brilliant rock ponies from London. Their genres are post-punk and new wave. Don't wanna list down the band members names cos I'm kinda lazy to go google up their names. In the mean time, watch and listen to NYPC! =)

I still can't believe that Alexander McQueen is gone. He is one of the most talented and has an amazing vision for modern couture, his designs has captured many attention from everyone especially his unique shoe designs for Spring Summer 2010 - the one which looks like a tapir head at the front where Lady Gaga wore in her music video Love Romance. Mr. Lee is indeed a brilliant fashion designer and he shall be remembered by all of us. I even did illustrations on my favourite shoes from him - titanic ballerina pumps and the very popular Armadillo or Tapir Shoes =)

Noisettes song - wild young heart is frenchie pig's song of the month. I've got to know Noisettes after watching one of my favourite British drama SKINS which they've played that song on one of the episodes. Noisettes is british and I love british stuff A LOT, I love their music, fashion and dramas/movies. British accent just turn me on like in a second! Oh, how I wish my boyfriend speaks with a british accent or my boyfriend is a british =p

Back to Noisettes, they're actually an indie rock band from London comprising singer and bassist/guitarist. I'm not gonna focus on the bassist and the guitarist cos they're not interesting. Anyway, the lead singer is really cool and she has the most coolest name in the world! Her name is Shingai Shoniwa, it sounds like Japanese but it turns out that Shingai is a Zimbabwean. Shingai sure has one funky style from her 60's curly short do to her modern vintage dressing.
Noisettes song - wild young heart is a combination of catchy, fun, happy and a lil bit of rock & roll twist. This song is indeed a MUST LISTEN song for indie lovers, fashionistas and well.. everybody! It'll sure make your day happier =)

Doesn't she look familiar to you? Well, it's Melly Ling of Frenchie Pig which means ME =) Ah..yes, my blog Frenchie Pig is already one year old and since Frenchie Pig already has its own beautiful Eiffel Tower and the pink pig, the author should have a picture of her own too on the blog. When I say picture, I meant an illustrated picture just like Garance Dore beautiful illustrations. I fell in love with Garance Dore and my friend Tin Iglesias illustrations. Both of them inspired me to do one for myself. So, I eventually did an illustration of myself on Illustrator CS4 which took me about 2 hours. YAY! I know my illustration isn't that nice but it sure looks good to me ;)

Finally, I have the urge to piggy blob and update my piggy blob =) This was last month during Deepavali. I went to three different houses for the open house and all at the same day, from morning till night. My first house visit was Pad and after that was Dhini and the last house visit was my super good friend, Charan. Aww.. I miss you guys so so much! I love what everybody wore on that day, it was all the colours that made me go crazy and I couldn't help but snap those pretty colours and happy colouriffic moment.

Recently, I did a style write up for Junk Magazine September issue. Junk has teamed up with sister fashion website Tongue in Chic to highlight the latest trends among four Asian cities including our quite fashionable Kuala Lumpur! Ooo, and guess who're the fashionistas are? I've chose my stylista best friend JoJo and the very good looking, Ezhen. The reason why I chose Joanne was she has this unique style going on and what I meant unique is - not over do it and keeping it simple yet being able to look stylish. And as for Ezhen, he's really different compared to any guys I know cos he dresses really well. His style is more to like casual preppy smart that kind and something which fits him comfortably yet again comfortable but stylish at the same time.

I'm in love with this new band called MGMT and there's one particular song which hooked me and that is Time To Pretend. For those of you who like indie rock or folktronica, then you should listen to MGMT! At first when I listened to their song, I had no clue how they look like at all. Then, I googled them and I found so many funky pictures of them. Gawd, looking at their super cool pics just draw me more to them.

It was a fun day though - Jo and I took turn to drive, we listened to Hockey and Kasabian in the car with my fake IPOD, kidnapped Huey Lin to go dinner with us, took picture at this scary place which was near the alley at night! Anyway, I couldn't help myself from not blogging about Alexander Wang S/S 2010 collection at New York Fashion Week recently. I'm going to cut things short since I've got to rush off to school now. Mr. Wang's new collection includes; from round accentuated shoulders (feminised by sheer fabrics and soft fluffy knits), to the cutaway knee-high socks. Sports stripes, racer-back crop tops, hooded jackets, and sweat shirts complete with cutaway details.

I've changed my frenchie pig jukebox to KASABIAN song which is processed beats. Kasabian songs are very addictive. I never get sick listening to their songs and I listen to them everyday. Check them out on their official website!! Anyway, KASABIAN are an English Indie Rock Band comprising vocalist Tom Meighan (my hubby), guitarist Sergio Pizzorno (cool name) and as for the rest, I couldn't bother to find information about them cos they're not hot. Haha. They have released 3 albums which are; Kasabian(2004), Empire(2006) and my favourite of all, West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum (2009).

MTV WORLD STAGE CONCERT MALAYSIA!

I'll describe MTV WORLD STAGE with just one word which is AWESOME! It was one of the best day I've ever had! After the press conference, my colleague Karen and I did style shots for Tongue in Chic. We missed a few performances but we did not miss the best ones which were The All-American Rejects and Kasabian. The best performance for me was The All American Rejects and then followed by KASABIAN. Tyson Ritter sang really well and in fact, he didn't sing out of tune. Tom Meighan was so sexy, I mean hot! Same goes to Sergio. They performed LSF, Vlad the Impaler, Fire, Underdog and Empire. My bestie, Joanne came with me too. I managed to get a pass for her cos one of my media friend couldn't make it for the concert. So, I called her when the concert just started but lucky thing KASABIAN was not performing at that time and she managed to make it. We went so high and danced like crazy when they were performing FIRE. I dragged Karen to the front and we all joined the crowd. We were all super hyper and crazy. I even managed to take pictures of the performances secretly with my digital camera and not with my DSLR cos DSLR cameras are not allowed in the concert due to its stupid strict policy. I was shocked to find out that nearly half the crowd left during KASABIAN performance. It seems like not many people enjoyed listening to their songs which I just don't understand at all. They left after The All American Rejects performance =.= This is so Malaysian la, not supportive at all. Anyway, we headed to the post party at MOS (Ministry of Sound) right after the concert ended. The buffet was good which they served satay, desserts, cakes, rice, curry chicken and etc (Typical Malaysian Cuisine). After we're done eating, we headed to the dance floor and we danced like crazy. AND Guess what? I had two cups of Vodka and I didn't get high but it was weird when I got high after I drank coke. Anyway, I had so much fun on that day and the best part is, my best friend was with me at the after party and at the concert! If there's another MTV event happening here in Malaysia again, I am so going!
